Adiantum is a popular soft foliage fern that is grown as a container plant or used in moist shady positions as an understorey. It is also planted around water features and in cool climates it is used as a house or glasshouse specimen. It is very vigorous and establishes in 1 to 2 years. SOIL: Well drained organic rich moist mulched soils tending alkaline. POSITION: Semi-shade with protection from wind frost and drought. WATER & FEEDING: Water freely throughout the year. Apply a weak fertiliser from spring to early autumn. CARE: Never let the compost dry out but do not leave the pot standing in water.
