The Peacock Plant is grown for its colourful foliage and clumping habit. It is planted in the understory of tropical gardens or grown as a container plant glasshouse or conservatory. It establishes in 2-3 years and is commonly used as an indoor plant. It prefers temperatures between 18º to 25º C with ample water and humidity during summer. The plant dies off when temperatures fall below 13º C. SOIL: Well drained rich organic loam moist but not wet. POSITION: Partial shade or good light out of direct sun. Good light in winter but avoid exposing to direct sun. WATER & FEEDING: Water freely using soft water if possible from spring to Autumn; sparingly in winter. Feed with a weak fertizer in summer. CARE: Repot annually in spring. Sponge the leaves occassionally.
